Poland's Ministers in Britain to Discuss Safety of Poles

Monday, 05 September 2016 12:23 PM EDT

WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Poland's foreign and interior ministers will visit Britain for talks about the security of hundreds of thousands of Poles there, following two attacks that left one Pole dead and three others injured.

Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski says he believes less protection is offered to Poles in Britain than to other nationals.

He was flying to London with Interior Minister Mariusz Blaszczak on Monday for talks with officials. They were also planning to visit Harlow, about 50 kilometers (30 miles) north of London where a 40-year-old Pole died last week and another one suffered injuries in a beating by teenagers.

Two other Poles were beaten Sunday.

Essex Police say they are investigating the killing and the subsequent assault in Harlow as potential hate crimes, but are looking at other possible motives.
