US Reportedly Negotiating Asylum Deal for Chen

Reports that blind Chinese human rights activist Chen Guangcheng, who escaped from house arrest last week, is now under the protection of the United States and may be living in the basement of the American embassy in Beijing have created a sudden obstacle for U.S.-China relations. Washington has said nothing, but news has leaked that the Obama administration is negotiating an asylum deal for Chen that will allow China to save face.
