CITRUS HEIGHTS, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say a leading white supremacist known for organizing skinhead groups has been fatally shot at his Northern California home.
Police near Sacramento say they arrived at the Citrus Heights home early Wednesday to find 40-year-old David Lynch shot dead with wounds to his head and upper torso. A woman also had been shot in the leg.
Lynch was a founder of the white nationalist group American Front. The Southern Poverty Law Center, a hate group watchdog, says Lynch began working as a racist skinhead organizer in the 1980s. The center says the movement had recently become re-energized under his leadership.
The Sacramento County coroner's office confirmed the identity of the victim Thursday.
