Jane Pauley Joining CBS News

Thursday, 10 April 2014 11:40 AM EDT

Former "Today" show host Jane Pauley is joining CBS News to occasionally contribute stories to the "Sunday Morning" broadcast.

She's expected to make her first appearance in the next few weeks. CBS' Bob Schieffer announced the move Wednesday at a symposium held at Texas Christian University.

Pauley, who is 63, is in the midst of promoting her new book, about people who switch careers late in life. Pauley was partners with Tom Brokaw and Bryant Gumbel at NBC's "Today" show in the 1980s and early 1990s.

Pauley said she owed her 40-year NBC career partly to CBS. She was on a local CBS station in Indianapolis when an out-of-towner in for the Indianapolis 500 watched her broadcast. Pauley soon got a call from NBC.
