The uninsured aren't exactly rushing to check out the troubled HealthCare.gov website for Obamacare's insurance exchanges,
according to a Gallup poll.
Only 18 percent of Americans without healthcare insurance have tried to visit an exchange website so far.
And just 22 percent of the uninsured who plan to get insurance through an exchange have sought to visit an exchange online.
Gallup previously determined that 44 percent of the uninsured Americans who plan to get insurance intend to do so through an exchange. And about 25 percent say they will probably pay a fine rather than acquire insurance.
"These findings help explain the low percentage of the uninsured who have attempted to access the exchange websites," writes Gallup's Frank Newport.
"The health exchange websites are not only fraught with the technical problems that have led to so much news coverage in recent weeks, but have also generated relatively little interest or use among uninsured Americans--the primary target group for the exchanges."
The poll of 854 uninsured adults was conducted Oct. 23-Nov. 6. The margin of error for the full sample is plus or minus 5 percentage points.
