has made an attempt to figure out how to build a wall along the entire 2,000-mile U.S.-Mexican border as GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump has been touting for months in his campaign.
According to experts CNN talked to, a cinder block wall would be too labor intensive, while poured concrete would not be strong enough. That leaves pre-cast concrete panels as the solution.
Each panel would be 20 feet above ground and five feet underground and would be about 10 feet wide. They would be joined by reinforced steel.
The project would require 339 million cubic feet of concrete and 5 billion pounds of steel, civil engineers told CNN.
The cost was estimated at $10 billion, though Trump himself has said he could get the job done for $8 billion.
Regardless of the price, Trump says he will make Mexico pay for the wall.
