Stormy Daniels was grilled on "The View" Tuesday morning with co-host Meghan McCain suggesting the blonde porn star who claims she had sex with Donald Trump and was threatened to stay quiet about it pulling "a publicity stunt."
McCain, the daughter of Sen. John McCain, pointed to Daniels' appearance at a Manhattan court hearing on Monday involving the seized records of Trump's personal lawyer Michael Cohen, who brokered a $130,000 payoff in alleged hush money to the adult film actress.
"It seems like a publicity stunt on some level. I think yesterday — because you didn't have anything to do with the case — it seemed a little like you were just trying to get attention. I understand that you're being sued by our president, but it does seem like you're benefitting a lot," McCain told Daniels.
"You've gone on your 'Make America Horny Again' tour. I'm sure you're making a lot of money, no disrespect. I hadn't heard your name until all of this had happened and now you're literally live on 'The View' giving an entire interview with us. So it has been beneficial for your career."
Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, admitted she has had more tour bookings than usual, "but I'm doing the job that I've been doing for the last, almost 20 years. Yes, there's a lot of publicity but I didn't do it for that because this isn't what I want to be known for."
Last month, Cohen filed a claim in federal court alleging that Daniels violated the terms of her non-disclosure agreement and he will seek $20 million from her, $1 million per breach of the contract she signed in 2016. A suit filed by Daniels claims Trump never signed the agreement and therefore it is void.
Her attorney Michael Avenatti told the program, "This is not a publicity stunt. A lot is at stake."
During her appearance on "The View," Daniels also revealed an artist's sketch of a mystery man she says once approached her in a parking lot and threatened her with harm if she talked about her alleged fling with Trump.
