Doctors and parents are warning others about a "skullbreaker" challenge on the social media platform TikTok that has injured kids across the United States.
The challenge begins with three people standing alongside each other. The person in the middle jumps in the air, while the pair on the outside try to kick the middle person's legs out from under them.
Valerie Hodson, a mother from Arizona, said her son was left with a head injury, stitches in his face, and severe cuts in his mouth.
"He landed hard flat on his back and head, as he struggled to get up he lost consciousness, he fell forward landing on his face," the mom said in a Facebook post. "The school monitor ran to his side, all the while the 2 boys were snickering and laughing as his stiff unconscious body lay on the asphalt."
Nathan Richards, an internal medicine and pediatrics specialist at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, told Yahoo News that injuries from the challenge can cause a host of "serious and life-threatening injuries," ranging from "skull fracture to paralysis, and death."
