Report: 1,400 People in US Being Monitored for Ebola

More than 1,400 people are being monitored for the Ebola virus in 44 states across the country, says a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

"They are being monitored because they came from one of the four countries with ongoing Ebola outbreaks," the CDC said, investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson reports.

Beginning on Oct. 22, the Homeland Security Department started mandating that all travelers coming from west African countries where the Ebola virus has spread be sent to either John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City, Dulles International Airport outside Washington, D.C., Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Georgia, or Chicago O'Hare International Airport.

These airports have the enhanced screening capabilities needed for those who may have been exposed to the Ebola virus.

Six people who contracted Ebola while in west Africa were brought to the United States for treatment, and four have been diagnosed while in the United States, with a total of two deaths.
