Fla. Gov. Scott Resists Pressure Over Rail Line

Wednesday, 02 March 2011 05:04 PM EST

Florida Gov. Rick Scott told “Fox & Friends” this morning that he still won’t take $2.4 billion in federal money for a high-speed rail line linking Tampa to Orlando, the Post on Politics blog of the Palm Beach Post reports. Scott also criticized a lawsuit filed on Tuesday by two state legislators, one a Republican, who want to force him to take the cash and build the train.

“The federal government gives you all this money, and you have to pay for it down the road,” Scott said on the Fox News program.

The legal challenge contends that state law requires Gov. Scott to proceed with the project. Scott told host Steve Doocy the lawsuit “doesn’t make any sense,” and he cast doubt on facts and figures that his opponents are marshaling in defense of the rail line.
