NY Prosecutor: Probe of SAT Scandal Will Proceed

Wednesday, 28 September 2011 11:38 AM EDT

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. — A New York prosecutor says she's investigating whether students at other schools were participating in an SAT cheating ring.

This follows the arrest of seven current or former students at Long Island's Great Neck North High School.

A 2010 graduate is accused of taking the SATs for the others. Prosecutors say he charged them up to $2,500 apiece.

Sam Eshaghoff spent his freshman year at the University of Michigan before transferring to Emory University in Atlanta.

He pleaded not guilty to several charges Tuesday, including scheming to defraud.

The others face misdemeanor charges.

Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice is investigating whether similar scams occurred in at least two other schools.

ETS, which administers the test for The College Board, says strict security guidelines are in place to prevent cheating.
