Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus rips the media for its coverage of the conflict between Republicans and Democrats over women’s issues.
“If the Democrats said we had a war on caterpillars, and every mainstream media outlet talked about the fact that Republicans have a war on caterpillars, then we’d have problems with caterpillars,” Priebus said
in an interview on
Bloomberg Television’s “Political Capital with Al Hunt,” airing this weekend. “It’s a fiction.”
The media has bought the Democratic stance that Republicans are anti-women hook, line, and sinker, Priebus said.
Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz and other Democrats have been criticizing Republicans for supporting policies such as requiring women seeking abortions to receive an ultrasound and allowing religious institutions to refrain from offering free coverage for contraception.
Priebus said Republicans can refute the false notion that they are waging a war on women by focusing on their ideas for the economy. They will make that case “to women and everyone in this country,” he said. “This president hasn’t fulfilled his promises,” Priebus said. “We can do better in this country in regards to jobs and the economy.”
