Palin Mourns “American Sniper” Kyle's Death

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is mourning the death of America's most lethal sniper, Chris Kyle, who was shot and killed at a Texas gun range on Saturday.

Palin and her husband, Todd, met the former Navy SEAL in Pella, Iowa, when he helped with security for a premiere of “The Undefeated,” a documentary about her that debuted in June 2011, reports CNN.

The Palins became friends with Kyle later when he and Todd Palin appeared on the NBC reality show, “Stars Earn Stripes,” a program in which competitors took on military-type missions.

“Chris was a wonderful man, a good friend, and a true American hero who loved our country and served honorably," Sarah Palin said. "He was loved and admired by so many, and he will never be forgotten."

Suspect Eddie Ray Routh, 25, was arrested in Texas after a short chase, and faces two counts of capital murder for shooting Kyle and another man.

Kyle, like Palin, was a supporter of Second Amendment rights and opposed calls for banning semi-automatic weapons.

He was the author of an autobiography, “American Sniper,” in which he said he was the “most lethal sniper in U.S. history,” claiming 150 sniper killings in Iraq.

Kyle received two Silver Stars after serving four combat tours in Iraq, and left the Navy in 2009.
