Vice President Mike Pence will no longer deliver a commencement speech for a private Milwaukee college this weekend in the wake of a police involved shooting of a Black man in nearby Kenosha, Wisconsin, Politico reports.

Citing unrest following the shooting of Jacob Blake and two people who were killed in protests that followed the incident, Wisconsin Lutheran College announced Thursday Pence will not deliver his speech.

Pence will be replaced by the Rev. Mark Jeske, of St. Marcus Lutheran Church.

The school is located about 40 miles from Kenosha, according to Politico. It has about 1,200 students. According to Politico, more than 270 students and alumni signed an open letter objecting to Pence’s visit, which was announced before Blake was shot.

Kenosha police shot Blake seven times in the back on Sunday. Blake survived, but is paralyzed from the waist down. The shooting prompted protests and violence. On Tuesday night, authorities allege that 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse from Antioch, Illinois, shot and killed two protesters and wounded a third.
