Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a late addition to the Democratic presidential race, says President Donald Trump should be impeached.
"I think it's a very serious thing but it — and I was before opposed to it — but after looking at all of the evidence, I think yes," Bloomberg told CBS News' Gayle King on Thursday. "Sad, but yes."
"He does not seem to understand that he is an elected official whose job it is to work for the public rather than for himself," he added.
Bloomberg's remarks come following House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's, D-Calif., announcement the House will draft articles of impeachment against Trump over his pressure on Ukraine to investigate Democrats and political rival Joe Biden as the president was withholding aid to Ukraine.
Trump and Bloomberg have sparred publicly, with the president earlier this week announcing it would no longer provide Bloomberg News with press credentials for campaign events since the outlet had "declared that they won't investigate their boss or his Democratic competitors."
Bloomberg, a billionaire, is refusing to accept any political donations, relying instead on his personal fortune that is estimated at $50 billion. He spent close to $40 million on a national TV advertising campaign arguing he is the candidate best positioned to beat Trump in the 2020 general election.
