Pew Poll: Majority Favor Media's Response to Coronavirus

Fifty-four percent of Americans say news organizations have done an excellent or good job responding to the coronavirus pandemic, according to a poll by the Pew Research Center.

The poll also revealed 46% say the news outlets have done a fair or poor job in providing coverage.

Here are how the results of the poll, released Wednesday, break down:

  • 68% say network television news has done an excellent or good job in responding to the coronavirus outbreak, compared to 31% who say it has done a fair or poor job.
  • 57% say cable news has done an excellent or good job, while 42% say it has done a fair or poor job.
  • 66% say print outlets have done a excellent or good job, compared to 33% who say they’ve done a fair or excellent job.
  • 50% say websites or apps have done an excellent or good job, while 50 percent say they’ve done a fair or poor job.

The poll, conducted March 19-24, surveyed a total of 11,537 people. The margin of error is plus or minus 1.5 percentage points.
