Noted Republican donor Ken Langone, co-founder of Home Depot, has compared the bashing of the rich to Adolf Hitler's rhetoric before World War II.
Langone, in an interview with
Politico published Tuesday, was one of several Wall Street movers and shakers who said they were worried about prejudice against top earners.
"If you go back to 1933, with different words, this is what Hitler was saying in Germany," he said.
"You don't survive as a society if you encourage and thrive on envy or jealousy."
Langone, a chief supporter of New Jersey Republican Gov. Chris Christie, has made controversial comments about world and national leaders.
He once said he might stop giving to charity if Pope Francis continued to make anti-capitalist statements.
Langone also said that the "private hell" of former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer, who resigned after a prostitution scandal, is "hotter than anybody else's."
