Carney Rips NY Times, Others on Gitmo Leaks

White House press secretary John Carney isn’t too happy about The New York Times, National Public Radio, and The (U.K.) Guardian for publishing documents provided by WikiLeaks about the cases of detainees at the Guantanamo Bay facility, Politico reports.

"The release of classified information we condemn in the strongest possible terms," Carney said in a press conference on Monday.

It’s "unfortunate" that the information was published by "The New York Times and others," Carney added.

The documents show that most of the 172 prisoners still at Gitmo have been deemed a “high risk.” But about 200 prisoners already freed carried the same rating.

The documents also detail the case of one prisoner who was thought to be harmless and was then freed, only to organize terrorism against the United States.
