The youngest son of Rep. John Conyers is reported missing in Houston.
Carl Conyers, 21, is a student at the University of Houston. He was last seen Tuesday afternoon by his roommate, according WWJ, the CBS television affiliate in Detroit.
Conyers' friends say they received a message from his Twitter account Wednesday sparking hope he might have been found. But those hopes were later dashed.
"Right now, we still don't know where he is," Daisha Lewis, Conyers' girlfriend told WWJ. "He may have come back to his room around 11:30 [Wednesday], in the morning, but as far as we know, no one has seen him since then."
The message sent from Conyers' Twitter account asked friends to meet him on campus, the television station reported.
"When we got there — I didn't feel right about it or thought maybe he was lying or someone was making him lie to meet us there because when we got there, he wasn't there," Lewis said.
"When we got back to the apartment, his stuff was gone. He took his ID with him and a debit card and some clothes even. Like it was a distraction to get more stuff that he left behind."
Lewis said Conyers had no enemies on campus and she now fears the worst.
"He didn't take a car with him or a bike so we don't really know how he's getting around right now," she said. "Like, he left his car keys; he left everything."
His father, Rep. John Conyers, a Michigan Democrat, is 87-years-old and was just re-elected last week, according to the New York Daily News.
