Howard Stern says Sean Spicer is an uninformed "moron" for stating Adolf Hitler never used chemical weapons and believes his longtime friend President Donald Trump should show the door to the White House press secretary.
'The guy's just not informed, and it's kind of embarrassing — it's just embarrassing," the veteran shock jock, who has been a friend of the commander-in-chief for years, said on his SiriusXM radio show.
"If I was Trump I would have fired the guy that day and I would have said, 'Listen I've got to get a guy in there that understands history.'"
On Tuesday, Spicer blasted Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for killing dozens in a sarin gas attack, suggesting even the "despicable" Hitler didn't "sink to using chemical weapons."
The bizarre statement ignored the Nazi madman's use of toxic gas to exterminate millions of Jews.
"Spicer managed to make Assad look good yesterday. He actually got him to look not so bad for using chemical weapons on his own people because the discussion became, Sean Spicer, how could you not know that Hitler marched his own people — Jews, gypsies, homosexuals . . . he marched them into concentration camps and turned on what is in fact chemical gas," Stern said.
'It was somewhat remarkable that a guy this high up in the administration wouldn't know this."
Stern said he was mystified that Trump hasn't given the foot-in-mouth press secretary, who he charged speaks "fluent moron," the ax.
"I kinda can't wait every day to see what this guy says," Stern told his sidekick Robin Quivers during his Tuesday broadcast. "He always looks scared and like he's always ready to make a blunder."
"If I'm President Trump, I'm like, well . . . we're a laughingstock.''
Spicer apologized for his comments, telling CNN he "mistakenly" used an "inappropriate and insensitive reference to the Holocaust, for which frankly there is no comparison."
Rep. Mike Coffman, a Colorado Republican, has said Spicer "needs to go" for his "terrible mistake." And the Anti-Defamation League has offered to help educate Spicer on the Holocaust.
