The release of
five more terrorism detainees from the U.S. military facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, a week after the terror attacks in Paris sends the wrong message to America's allies and enemies in the Middle East, says Rep. Adam Kinzinger.
Regardless of the actual risk the men pose, the message sent is that America is "quickly retreating from this war of ideology," Kinzinger said Thursday on Fox News Channel's
"On the Record with Greta Van Susteren."
The Illinois Republican called that "very dangerous," and said he believes it has led to the rise of extremism and the Islamic State (ISIS).
"I think that's done more perception-wise to hurt our cause than anything," he said. "I would love to see President Obama come out and give a speech like … what we have seen out of the prime minister of Australia or Canada or France even now, and say that … this is a real issue, and it must be confronted head on."
