Former Sen. Graham: Reopen 9/11 Probe

Officials should reopen an investigation into who assisted the 9/11 hijackers when they were living in the United States prior to the attacks and declassify related government documents, former Sen. Bob Graham says.

Graham, speaking at a forum to mark the 11th anniversary of the attacks titled "Unanswered Questions of 9/11: A Conversation With Bob Graham,” said federal officials should disclose who supported and financed the attacks and probe a possible “external support system" in Florida.

"I think it's very important that this information about Sarasota and Delray Beach and other places where the hijackers would have benefited from a support network be made available," Graham said according to the Sun Sentinel newspaper.

The event was held at the Museum of Art in Fort Lauderdale and sponsored by the Broward Bulldog, an online newspaper, and by the marketing and public relations firm Boardroom Communications Inc.

Graham, a Democrat who represented Florida in the Senate from 1987-2005, called on President Barack Obama to declassify federal documents related to who aided the 9/11 terrorists, adding that such a terrorism network could be used again.

"What leads us to believe that that network has evaporated, been dismissed or rolled up?" Graham asked according to the paper. "I have no reason to believe that that's occurred."
