A producer for Glenn Beck's conservative news and opinion website will not obey a district court judge's order to identify the sources for a report that alleged a Saudi Arabian student was involved in the Boston Marathon bombing, Politico reports.
A lawyer representing "The Blaze" and producer Joe Weasel said the sources — previously identified as Department of Homeland Security officials — would not be revealed by name in defiance with an order from Judge Patti Saris.
Saris's request came as part of a defamation suit brought by Abdulrahman Alharbi, who was injured in the 2013 terrorist blast which was blamed on Chechen brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev.
"Defendants cannot disclose the identities of Confidential Sources 1 and 2 for several compelling reasons," attorney Michael Grygiel wrote to Saris, according to Politico.
"First and foremost, as a matter of fundamental journalistic integrity, Defendants cannot disclose the identities of the Confidential Sources without their authorization."
The lawyer added that the sources do not want to be identified and added Beck's operations are "justifiably concerned that substantial harm could come to the Confidential Sources if they are identified."
