House Majority Leader Eric Cantor will visit the infamous Nazi concentration camp at Auschwitz, Poland, on Monday and meet with survivors to mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day, two reports say.

"Visiting Auschwitz will be a powerful and sober reminder of the horrors of the Holocaust and how we all have a responsibility to ensure no similar atrocity ever happens again," a statement from the first-ever Jewish majority leader said, the Richmond Times Dispatch reported Tuesday.

The Virginia Republican is leading a delegation of lawmakers to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, before leaving for Poland, where he'll be joined by California Republican Rep. Darrell Issa and New York Democratic Rep. Carolyn Maloney, the newspaper said.

Plans for the emotional journey were first reported in the Jerusalem Post on Sunday.

"This is a priority for [Cantor]," a source told the newspaper. "He's never been to Auschwitz before."

Thirty Holocaust survivors from Israel will be part of a Knesset delegation to the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp, the largest ever sent from Israel's government, the Post reported.
