Brian Williams Interview with Rahm Emanuel, Brothers Takes Sour Turn

By    |   Sunday, 24 March 2013 10:20 PM EDT

Hollywood super agent Ari Emanuel isn’t happy with an interview he and brothers Rahm and Ezekiel did with NBC’s Brian Williams, The Hollywood Reporter notes.

The brothers sat down for a ’Rock Center’ segment on Ezekiel’s upcoming book, “Brothers Emanuel: A Memoir of an American Family.” But Ari Emanuel didn’t like the direction the interview took and fired off a legal letter to NBC.

Rahm is mayor of Chicago and a former chief of staff to President Barack Obama. Ezekiel is a famous bioethicist.

Ari Emanuel’s letter, the Reporter notes, takes issue with Williams questioning the brothers on their connection to Israel and Ari’s reputation as an aggressive agent. Ari Emanuel says he had been led to believe it would be a lighthearted interview about Ezekiel’s book.

The letter asked NBC not to air the more contentious portions. NBC said it did not edit what was broadcast Friday night in response to Ari Emanuel’s letter, The New York Post reported.

The Post reported one source saying that Ari Emanuel was so bothered that he confronted NBC Chief Executive Steve Burke on the set of “Saturday Night Live” on March 9.

“Steve told him that it was NBC News’ thing and that he had nothing to do with it,” the source told the Post. Both NBC and Ari Emanuel’s agency say that conversation was not heated.
