Former Vice President Joe Biden still leads among all 2020 Democratic presidential candidates, though Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., has made headway following the second round of primary debates, according to a Quinnipiac University National poll released Tuesday.

Warren's support rose to 21% among Democratic and Democratic-leaning voters, while Biden notched 32%, a 2% drop since the last survey.

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., came in third with 14%, Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., was fourth with 7%. South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg, meanwhile, was fifth with 5%.

The survey also shows:

  • Warren is seen by 28% as the candidate with the best debate performance in the second round, followed by Biden (15%) and both Sanders and Harris (8%).
  • 33% say Biden would be the best leader, followed by Warren (22%), Sanders (13%), and Harris (7%).
  • 32% say Warren has the best policy ideas, followed by Biden (17%) and Sanders (16%).
  • 49% say Biden has the best chance of beating President Donald Trump in 2020, followed by Sanders (12%) and Warren (9%).

The Quinnipiac poll surveyed 807 Democratic and Democratic-leaning voters from Aug. 1-5 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.1 percentage points.
