Country Is at DEFCON Code 5 — Safest Level Since Post-Trump Election

The country's DEFCON code is at its safest level — Green — meaning there are no imminent nuclear threats against the U.S. at this time.

"The United States took a tentative step toward a more isolationist policy with its recent presidential election. While it will take several months to see how the U.S. reforms its foreign policy, already some world leaders have expressed hope that relations could improve, including Russia and Syria. China and North Korea, however, continue to either cast a wary eye or are outright belligerent," the DEFCON Warning System said in its most recent update last Thursday.

The country's DEFCON, or Defense Condition, level had been at Level 4 — Blue — on Oct. 20 when the "United States suffered major embarrassment and a strategic setback when its plans for a cyber-attack on Russia were exposed prematurely."

But the election of Donald Trump seems to have soothed tensions.

"If the new U.S. President keeps to his previous statements, look for the United States to withdraw somewhat from military confrontations in the Middle East and possibly European theater, though it is highly unlikely it will abandon NATO commitments, and the Ukraine will likely pop up again in the near future.

"Russia, however, will probably wait to see what the new president does, as well as now being hampered by the coming winter," the site said.

The next scheduled update is Dec. 1.
