Muslim-American human rights attorney Arsalan Iftikhar is biting back hard on provocative CNN host Don Lemon, who questioned him on air last week if he "supported ISIS,"
Mediaite reported.
"It is a sincere honor to be added to the litany of famous 'Malaysian-black-hole-penis-biting' Don Lemon media gaffes which can be added to his audition tape for his next job at Fox News Channel," Iftikhar wrote in a column published in
The Islamic Monthly on Monday.
Added Iftikhar in his jab: "From the bottom of my heart, I want to publicly thank Don Lemon for making me famous with his patently offensive racist dumb-ass question."
Iftikhar, who wrote sarcastically that "apparently we currently live in a post-racial America," noted that during the televised interview he thought perhaps that he had simply misheard Lemon because the question seemed so patently outrageous, Mediaite noted.
"Surely there was no respectable journalist in the world who would ask a Muslim human rights lawyer whether he supports an organization which violates human rights each and every day," Iftikhar noted incredulously. "But then I remembered that I was dealing with Don Lemon."
Lemon has been called out for on-air gaffes in the past, notably his odd notion during coverage of the disappearance of the Malaysian Air plane, when he asked: "Is it preposterous to think a black hole caused Flight 370 to go missing?"
Black holes occur in outer-space. The altitude capacity of a Boeing 777 is 43,100 feet.
Transportation expert Mary Schiavo quickly intervened on Lemon's flawed logic: "A small black hole would suck in our entire universe, so we know it’s not that,"
Mediaite noted of the eye-rolling exchange.
Lemon earned a "worst of the worst" journalism award from the
Columbia Journalism Review in 2014.
