President Donald Trump ridiculed the "anarchists" who occupy the area of the Capitol Hill Organized Protest, which was also known as CHAZ, for building a wall earlier this week to cordon off the autonomous zone from the rest of downtown Seattle.

Trump sent a tweet Thursday afternoon congratulating the occupiers in the zone who used concrete barriers to create a wall after taking over the area from city officials after weeks of protest.

Trump tweeted:

"First thing the anarchists did upon taking over Seattle was 'BUILD A WALL. See, I was ahead of our times!"

Trump pushed an anti-illegal immigration policy as a candidate for president that included building a barrier at the southern border between the United States and Mexico. Many have said that sentiment helped Trump garner a wave of praise from supporters who often chanted "Build that Wall" at his rallies leading up to the 2016 election.

The president ripped Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan for giving way to the protesters occupying CHOP who Trump called "terrorists." He threatened to deploy the National Guard to get control of the area which has been referred to as "leaderless."
