A congressman has a message for the federal government, which gave its non-emergency workers in Washington a snow day.
“Wimps,” Utah Representative Jason Chaffetz, a Republican, tweeted on Monday evening. “Snowing in DC and they close the government. Imagine if the rest of the country closed when it snowed.”
The Office of Personnel Management announced Monday night that federal offices in the Washington area would be closed on Tuesday because of snow. The area received 4 to 6 inches overnight, according to the Washington Post.
Chaffetz, who is chairman of the powerful Committee on Oversight & Government Reform, then retweeted a (seemingly) cheeky suggestion from a Utah journalist. “Do I smell an Oversight hearing?” askedSalt Lake Tribune Washington correspondent Thomas Burr. “Subject: 'Who closes the government more: Democrats or Snow?'”
