Les Moonves, the CEO of CBS, praised Donald Trump's plans for business deregulation, but defended the media against the president's attacks, The Hollywood Reporter reported.
"Although we're not the enemy of the people, we welcome the deregulation," Moonves said.
And Deadline Hollywood noted deregulation "could include a lift in the cap restricting the number of TV stations a company can own."
Moonves pointed out Trump has also been good for CBS programs like Stephen Colbert's Late Show, the Reporter said.
"Stephen Colbert's kind of humor is clearly working now," he said. "Obviously, Stephen is a big social commentator and the things that are going on in the country with the president . . . people want to see social commentary, they don't want to see fun and games."
Moonves said last year Trump's presidential campaign "may not be good for America, but it's damn good for CBS," Politico reported.
He later clarified that comment, saying it was in response to a question about local political ad spending and not ratings, according to Politico.
