Apple and TikTok have taken steps to remove Vybe Together, an application that helps people organize parties, amid a resurgence of the coronavirus in several countries across the world.

Apple has removed the application from its store, while TikTok has removed the app’s account from its network.

Vybe Together's Instagram account, which states, “Find your vybe. Local wine nights, beer pong games and dancing in an apartment near you,” now reads in the bio: “App Store took us down!!! We will be back!! Follow to stay updated.”

The application’s parent company’s website is now offline, but it previously defended its business model remaining valid during the pandemic, saying it was promoting “small gatherings,” that act as “a compromise.”

A spokesperson for the app told The Verge: “Vybe Together was [a minimum viable product] designed to help other people organize small get-togethers in parks or apartments during COVID. We never hosted any large parties, and we made one over-the-top marketing video that left a wrong impression about our intentions, which has since been taken down. We do not condone large unsafe parties during a pandemic.”
