Dershowitz Scoffs at CNN Reporter's 'Blade Runner' Trial Coverage

Tuesday, 04 March 2014 12:47 PM EST

Harvard Law School professor Alan Dershowitz trashed CNN reporter Robyn Curnow's coverage of the Oscar Pistorius murder trial when they both appeared on the network's Piers Morgan show.

The former Olympic athlete, a double amputee nicknamed the Blade Runner, is on trial in South Africa for shooting his model girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, to death, and he has pleaded not guilty while claiming that he mistook her for an intruder.

On Morgan's CNN show Monday night, Curnow said the case would come down to legal arguments and the judge sifting through "the minutiae of the law."

But Dershowitz quickly scoffed at Curnow's statements when he came on as a guest in the next segment, saying that her assessment was completely wrong.

Story continues below video.

"Your previous guest, the one who was the reporter from South Africa, couldn't have been more incorrect when she said this is going to come down to the law," Dershowitz said.

"A debate about the law and legalisms. The law is relatively clear, and the law is relatively undisputed. This is all about the facts. This is all about the forensics."

Meanwhile, in the High Court in Pretoria, South Africa, Pistorius broke down and wept as the jury was told about the details of the bullets that hit Steenkamp, including the removal of fragments from her head during the post mortem, according to the Daily Mail.

The Paralympian champ was seen bent double in the dock, with his hands behind his head, as his defense lawyer attempted to counter testimony from a neighbor that she heard a woman's screams after shots were fired on the night the model was killed.

Lawyer Barry Roux said, "We will have experts state that there was serious brain damage after the shot to the head, that it would not have been possible for her to scream at all. With the head shot, she would have dropped down immediately."
