Lara Logan Returns to '60 Minutes'

By    |   Wednesday, 04 June 2014 06:25 PM EDT

Lara Logan has returned to work at "60 Minutes" seven months after taking leave of absence over a flawed report on Benghazi, media outlets are reporting.

According to The Hollywood Reporter and Variety, CBS has confirmed that Logan is back on the job but has not said when any new reports might air. The summer season has just begun, when "60 Minutes" typically reruns older stories, sometimes with updates.

Logan has been on leave since late October after she aired a report in which security contractor Dylan Davies gave details of his experience at the U.S. compound in Libya as the attacks occurred on Sept. 11, 2012. Davies was not actually at the scene.

"60 Minutes" retracted the story and Logan publicly apologized.

Veteran "60 Minutes" reporter Morley Safer called for Logan's firing, New York magazine reported in a May 4 feature on Logan. According to the magazine's report,  executive producer Jeff Fager refused to fire her, saying it was he who was to blame for not catching the error.

The report also noted that CBS was considering replacing Logan permanently, but she still has more than a year remaining on her contract, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Max McClellan, who produced the segment and was suspended at the same time as Logan, also is expected to return to work, Variety reports.
