Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, isn’t taking anything for granted as he seeks re-election to a seventh term next year. He went after probable primary opponent Rep. Jason Chaffetz Tuesday, accusing him of putting more effort into getting publicity than doing his job, The Hill reports.
.
Chaffetz could be a “halfway decent congressman” if he concentrated on his job, Hatch said on the Hugh Hewitt radio show. “Well, he’s been running since the day he got elected to Congress,” Hatch said of Chaffetz. “I think he enjoys getting the publicity that happens.”
Chaffetz has appeared at several media outlets this week during the House recess to say that he’s probably going to run against Hatch. But the incumbent is undeterred.
“Let’s put it this way: I intend to win, and we will win,” Hatch said.
