Ben Carson: Obamacare a 'Redistribution Program'

Obamacare is a "redistribution program" that's "not what America is about," said former neurosurgeon and Fox News contributor Dr. Ben Carson.

"It is a redistribution program. There is no question about that," Carson told "Fox and Friends" on the Fox News Channel Thursday. "Of course, that's not what America is about. America is about free enterprise."

The spirit of entrepreneurship has been a driving force in America, Carson maintained, that has enabled the U.S. to have "the biggest impact of any country ever in the history of the world."

"Because we created an atmosphere of entrepreneurship, hard work, innovation . . . now we're in the process of trying to be like everybody else, and destroying that," he said.

The emphasis in healthcare should return to a relationship between patients and their healthcare provider, Carson suggested. He said free enterprise, and not the government, should be involved in health concerns of individuals.

"Get the government out of it. There's plenty of things for the government to do. And, if we put them back where they're supposed to be, and let us, the people, and the free market deal with things, we can once again be the pinnacle of the world. We can be the example," Carson said.
