WikiLeaks is threatening to sue CNN for defamation after a commentator called Julian Assange a "pedophile who lives in the Ecuadorian embassy in London."
The WikiLeaks tweet came after former CIA counterterrorism official Phil Mudd used the words to describe Assange on CNN'S New Day on Wednesday.
The WikiLeaks Task Force, in a related tweet, called Mudd's comments false and linked to a story posted by McClatchy newspapers' Washington bureau about attacks on Assange.
That particular story detailed how a dating website pushed unproven charges that Assange made contact with a young Canadian girl in the Bahamas through the internet with the intention of molesting her. It also raised questions whether the company sought to entangle him in a plan to receive $1 million from the Russian government.
