Former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow, who hasn't played in a regular season game since 2012 and is currently a free agent, says running for public office is an "intriguing" thought.
Tebow made the remarks to
Fox Sports at a charity golf tournament this month.
"It's been crazy, hasn't it? It's been a whirlwind watching everything," the 28-year-old said of the current presidential campaign. "You know, I don't know in this time in my life, but if there's a chance you can make a difference some day in something, then that would be intriguing."
Tebow has been very outspoken about his Christian faith and his vow to remain chaste until he is married. On the football field, he won the 2007 Heisman Trophy as a sophomore at the University of Florida.
His NFL career, however, has not been as successful. He spent two seasons with the Denver Broncos and one season (2012) with the New York Jets. He also was on the practice squad of the New England Patriots (2013) and the Philadelphia Eagles (2015).
The Eagles cut him from their roster last September.
Tebow has worked as a college football analyst for ESPN since 2013 and is currently on the free agent market for the upcoming NFL season.
Tebow is known for taking a knee and saying a prayer, an act that has been dubbed "Tebowing." Last summer during the Eagles training camp, he appeared to
sign a fan's Bible.
