A woman in San Antonio, Texas, last week shot and killed a man who was breaking into her home, local news outlet KSAT reports.
The Bexar County Medical Examiner determined that Roman Rodriguez, 41, died after being shot multiple times in the torso by a woman whose name has not been released. Police say she was in her home at about 10 p.m. Thursday with her children, who were sleeping, when she heard someone entering the house through a back door into the laundry room.
She said she saw Rodriguez as he was attempting to enter the main door to the house and shot him twice in the chest, according to News 4 San Antonio.
Police officers found Rodriquez sitting outside in a chair near the house. He was bleeding from the gunshot wounds and died while being transported to the hospital, according to law enforcement. No other injuries were reported. The homeowner, due to Texas’ “Castle Doctrine” that allows the use of force against intruders, will not face charges.
