President Donald Trump on Friday told reporters that the previous administration is responsible for creating a “mess” of the country’s relationships with China and North Korea.
"If you look at what we've straightened out, I call it the 'Obama-Biden mess,'" Trump said, according to The Hill, referring to former President Barack Obama and former Vice President Joe Biden, who is currently running for the Democratic presidential nomination.
"We're straightening it out, whether it's North Korea...you were going to end up in a war with North Korea, and now the relationship is a good relationship,” he added.
Although Trump recently met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, becoming the first U.S. president to enter the country at the demilitarized zone, Pyongyang on Wednesday accused the U.S. of being “obsessed with sanctions,” and “more and more hell-bent on hostile acts.”
"You look at what Joe Biden has done with China...we lost our shirts with China, and now China is dying to make a deal," Trump said.
The Trump administration has imposed billions in tariffs on Chinese goods, resulting in China introducing billions in tariffs on American goods. Beijing has said that it will not renegotiate its trade deals with the U.S. until the tariffs are removed.
