Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., called in Monday to a House Republican conference call.

In a tweet after the call, Scalise, the House majority whip, said he looked forward to returning to work in the House.

CBS News reported that the call was to discuss government funding.

A gunman who targeted legislators shot Scalise during a June attack on a congressional baseball practice in Virginia. Scalise's date to return to work has "not yet been determined" by his doctors, a Scalise aide told Politico.

In the wake of the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, Scalise sent a tweet condemning "bigotry and violence."
