The feud between House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and three fellow freshman lawmakers is "ugly and getting uglier" and socialists are winning as there are no moderates left in the Democratic Party, House Minority Whip Steve Scalise said Thursday.
"You are seeing this fight between the far left socialists and liberals," the Louisiana Republican told Fox News' "America's Newsroom." "It used to be in the Democratic party a fight between liberals and moderates. There are no moderates left. The socialists are winning, and for Nancy Pelosi to think that she can silence AOC and these others, this shows that she is out of touch with what is happening in her own conference. That I think is shocking a lot of people."
Meanwhile, it's "always been about AOC," and she will promote herself and socialism, said Scalise, including her complaints that she's been placed on committees to keep her busy.
"If she thinks that's a little too hard, let me tell you, there are a lot of folks out there, hardworking families that worked two jobs that are looking at this going, you know what? Why don't you start focusing on us and the things that are broken in this country instead of trying to go after Donald Trump every day and having these little internal fights because you want more power?" said Scalise.
Pelosi, he added is "completely misleading how much of a grip these far left socialists have on our congress, as Ocasio-Cortez is threatening liberals that she'll run someone in their primary election.
"Pelosi took the gavel, trying to think that she could appeal to middle America," said Scalise. "Middle America is looking at this going wait a minute, we are not a socialist nation, we are still a center-right nation."
