Secretary of State John Kerry has ordered a review of deleted footage from a 2013 press briefing, a reverse of the department's vow last week not to further investigate the matter.

The Hill reports that Kerry has asked his employees to take a closer look at the edited video and try to determine who cut footage that contained a question about the Obama administration's negotiations with Iran.

Roughly eight minutes of the briefing were originally missing from an official version of the video uploaded to YouTube.

"We're going to continue to look at additional troves of information in an effort to find out, again, what happened," State Department spokesman Mark Toner said Wednesday, according to The Hill. "That is basically because the secretary said he wants to dive deeper into this, look more into what happened, and try to get to the bottom of what happened.

"And so, what our office of legal adviser did was go back and look at what are other areas where there could be information."

The full video of the press briefing in question has been uploaded to YouTube. Last week, Kerry called the edit "clumsy and stupid and inappropriate."

The deleted video includes an exchange between Fox News reporter James Rosen and State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki regarding whether or not the Obama administration lied about conducting secret talks with Iran over its nuclear program.
