Sirhan Sirhan, Democratic presidential candidate Robert Kennedy’s assassin, has returned to San Diego prison after being treated at a hospital following a stabbing on Friday, ABC News reported on Sunday.
"The victim of the attack has since been released from the hospital and is back at the institution,” according to a statement from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. "The suspect in the attack has been identified, and has been placed in the prison’s Administrative Segregation Unit, pending an investigation."
The statement did not name the suspect in the attack on Sirhan. Sirhan’s lawyer and his brother said they were unable to reach him for two days after the incident.
TMZ reported that Sirhan is in good condition.
It is unclear where he was stabbed in the initial attack, but it appears that the wounds were not life-threatening.
Sirhan assassinated Robert Kennedy during a campaign rally in Los Angeles in 1968. RFK was considered a highly-favored candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination after winning the California Primary.
