Ex-CBS Reporter: New WH Spokesman Stonewalled Me on Benghazi

By    |   Friday, 30 May 2014 09:53 PM EDT

Former CBS News reporter Sharyl Attkisson charged Friday that the man chosen to replace Jay Carney as White House spokesman stonewalled her efforts to get more information about the 2012 attack in Benghazi.

In a series of tweets, Attkisson, who left the network out of frustration with its liberal bias, called out Josh Earnest as "apparently" to blame for blocking her requests for "Benghazi night White House photos" and ignoring "a year and a half of our calls and emails to obtain the photos."

Attkisson told Reason earlier this month, "If we knew everything then that we know now, one week after [the Benghazi attack] happened, I think that would have been really devastating to [Obama's re-election] campaign."

And she continues to lash out at CBS’ reluctance to challenge the Obama administration, and suggested someone may have "paid" liberal watchdog Media Matters to target her reporting.

Both CBS and Media Matters have denied the claims.

Attkisson has also criticized Earnest in an interview in April with conservative commentator Glenn Beck.

"I’ve asked for the White House photographs taken that night," she told Beck. "The White House photo office went from telling me the very day I asked that I could have them to referring me to Josh Earnest, a press officer at the White House, saying he had to release them. And it’s been a year-and-a-half, and he won’t return my calls or emails."
