Seal has slammed Oprah Winfrey on social media, claiming the former talk show host knew all about sexual misconduct allegations against Harvey Weinstein but chose to ignore them for years, Fox News reported.
The internationally renowned musician took to Instagram to blast Oprah, posting a pair of photos of her with the disgraced Hollywood mogul in a meme that read:
“When you have been part of the problem for decades... but suddenly they all think you are the solution.”
Seal added a second blow with a sarcastic caption that accused Oprah of being aware of the allegations of sexual misconduct against Weinstein.
“You'd heard the rumours but you had no idea he was actually serially assaulting young stary-eyed actresses who in turn had no idea what they were getting into. My bad,” he wrote, driving the point home with “#SanctimoniousHollywood.”
Before her Golden Globes barnburner speech on sexual assault, Winfrey had previously spoken about the Weinstein scandal on her Facebook page.
“I’ve been processing the accounts of Harvey Weinstein's hideous behaviour and haven't been able to find the words to articulate the magnitude of the situation,” she wrote back in October.
Winfrey’s speech at the Golden Globes prompted calls for her to run for president in 2020.
Her toying with a presidential run has also drawn criticism over the past few days.
“Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane took to Twitter to warn that “the idea of a reality show star running against a talk show host is troublingly dystopian.”
