Gov. Scott Walker: 'We're Not Conceding Anywhere'

By    |   Thursday, 28 May 2015 06:07 PM EDT

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, a likely GOP presidential candidate, backed off a bit from his statement Tuesday, in which he said he would be ready to compete in every state "other than maybe Florida."

Walker was talking to radio host Laura Ingraham about the strength of two other contenders who are Floridians, Sen. Marco Rubio and former Gov. Jeb Bush.

But when quizzed about the statement Thursday on Fox News Channel's "Your World with Neil Cavuto," Walker said he has always believed he could do well in any state, but admitted it would be tough in a state with two residents in the race.

"I can compete anywhere," Walker asserted, saying he is visiting Florida Gov. Rick Scott next week.

"We're not conceding anywhere," he said. "I'm just pointing out that Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio will have a distinct advantage."

Neither Walker nor Bush have officially entered the fray. Rubio launched his campaign by declaring his candidacy on April 13.
