Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., blasted President Joe Biden for "raging inflation."
Scott's comments came as the Bureau of Labor Statistics released the latest Producer Price Index [PPI] on Tuesday.
On a monthly basis, the government said that the PPI, which measures costs before they reach consumers, jumped 0.2% from September to October. That number was same as in the previous month, which had been revised down from an initial reading of 0.4%.
Meanwhile, prices at the wholesale level increased 8% in October from 12 months prior. However, it marked the fourth straight monthly decline, The Associated Press noted.
"President Biden and Democrats in Washington are obsessed with spending money that we don't have, and it's crushing small businesses and hardworking families in every community across America," Scott said in a statement.
"Joe Biden's inflation is making the American dream unreachable for too many, especially poor families like the one I grew up in. It is time to stop this Biden spending spree once and for all, and it is beyond time to give struggling families a break.
"The only way to curb record-high costs is to demand fiscal responsibility that will finally end this national nightmare, and that is exactly what I am fighting to do.
According to Scott, "price increases over the year in October" included many home staples:
- Eggs: +157.9%
- Home Heating Oil: +62.2%
- Vegetables: +45.8%
- Turkeys: +39.9%
- Grains: +28.8%
