Rudy Giuliani, an attorney for President Donald Trump, said a counter-report to special counsel Robert Mueller’s findings will deal with Attorney General William Barr’s decision on obstruction of justice.
Giuliani made his comments on Thursday during an interview on Hill.TV.
"The response will essentially do in more detail essentially what the attorney general did," Giuliani said.
"That's not because we're copying, but that's because it's the law. The law is how can you possibly have an obstruction when you didn't commit a crime. You're being investigated for a crime you didn't commit, and all of the things they're accusing you of, you did in order to defend yourself.”
Mueller did not make a determination on whether Trump obstructed justice, but detailed 10 potential obstruction incidents involving the president.
However, Barr said he and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein found that the evidence was “not sufficient” to establish obstruction of justice.
Giuliani said the counter-report would be released once the public has had a chance to read the Mueller findings.
