Turner Classic Movie host Robert Osborne has died at the age of 84, the cable news network announced Monday.
Osborne, who was the genial host of the classic movie network, was lauded by TMC for his contributions to the network in a statement, Variety reported.
“All of us at Turner Classic Movies are deeply saddened by the death of Robert Osborne. Robert was a beloved member of the Turner family for more than 23 years. He joined us as an expert on classic film and grew to be our cherished colleague and esteemed ambassador for TCM,” the statement read.
No cause of death was given but Osborne had taken a medical leave in 2011, but then returned to the network with somewhat diminished responsibilities, the paper says.
